A few days before our study group, a student shared an aromatherapy case formula using the exact four oils featured this month: rose, sweet orange, mandarin, and bergamot. The blend was designed for someone who felt shy, struggled to express themselves, or had difficulty sharing their inner thoughts.
Before class, I focused only on preparing the handouts and avoided making assumptions about how these oils might be used. Yet the universe had already offered the most beautiful response through synchronicity.
When rose meets citrus
In the weekend class, we made personal inhalers and body massage oils. It was my first time truly experiencing how harmoniously rose blends with citrus oils. Because rose is so precious, I usually pair it only with other precious oils. But this blend broke that habit and gave me a valuable insight: it beautifully connects the sacral, solar plexus, and heart chakras, supporting related emotional themes.
Inner abundance and effortless expression
In the weekday class, we made two massage oils for the chest and abdomen. Sweet orange, mandarin, and bergamot helped reveal a sense of inner abundance—the skills, learning, and life experience we already carry. Rose and bergamot then brought a feeling of safety, allowing authentic self-expression to come more easily.
The first blend focused on monoterpenes, with more sweet orange and mandarin. The second focused on the monoterpenols in rose and bergamot, with less sweet orange and mandarin.
Both smelled lovely: fresh, sweet citrus with a soft trace of rose. The second blend especially touched me. Just smelling it made me smile. Rose and bergamot helped settle restlessness and anxiety, while the bright citrus notes brought lightness, ease, and joy from within.
Gentle reminders
Photosensitivity: Because these blends contain citrus oils, avoid direct sun exposure for 3–4 hours after applying them. You may use sunscreen or apply them to areas covered by clothing.
Pregnancy: Rose essential oil has emmenagogue properties and is not recommended before 36 weeks of pregnancy.
