Or do you hold it in front of your nostril nose and sniff?
The participants of the Essentialtalk Aromatheropy Study Group are diverse: from casual enthusiasts who simply love aromatherapy, to aspiring students preparing for a professional career in the field, and even seasoned colleagues.
Each essential oil study group session generates unique content, influenced by the chosen essential oils, the seasonal weather, and the diverse participants present. Consequently, everyone gains different insights. Some of these insights can be articulated in words, while others are embodied experiences that are absorbed and gradually understood or integrated over time.
April 2026: Lemon, Clary Sage, Laurel, Sweet Basil These four essential oils, rich in limonene and esters, are known to bring feelings of lightness, ease, and joy to both body and mind. My plan was for each participant to blend their own personal aroma inhaler to help relieve feelings of low mood, irritability, and gloom. For any other blend creations, I encouraged them to apply their own practical understanding. This then naturally led to the questions raised earlier about how to use an aroma inhaler.
I typically add 8-20 drops of pure essential oil to the aroma inhaler. When needed, I hold it in front of my nose and take several deep breaths. It can be discarded after 2-3 months of use.
Aroma inhalers are originally designed to be inserted directly into the nostrils. However, after trying this method several times, I found it too direct and intense, which goes against the principle of gentle body care. Also, due to aesthetic concerns, I rarely recommend this usage. Nevertheless, for emergency/special situations or when it's inconvenient to hold the inhaler, direct insertion provides a strong and rapid effect. If you choose this method, I suggest using 3-5 drops of essential oil and not exceeding that amount. It should be discarded after a few uses per day.
